We are working towards the 2021/22 olive campaign
to offer you a unique and different experience

Make your own early harvest extra virgin olive oil!

If you’ve ever wondered how liquid gold is made, you’re in luck! We invite you to learn about the entire production process, from the olive harvest in one of our olive groves to the packaging of the oil in the local mill with which we collaborate. After living this experience, the extra virgin olive oil will taste different to you.

How to enjoy the Cualiva experience?

And how does it work? Very easy! You will participate in the entire elaboration process; from the collection of the olive to the packaging of the oil.

The first thing we will do is know the place where the olives of your future oil are born. So get up with energy and have a good breakfast because you are going to pick olives!

Our olive groves are full of centenary olive trees that have passed through the hands of 4 generations of farmers; transgressive women who, in a sector traditionally dominated by men, knew how to make the most of the land they cared for. Now, Luis (great-great-great-grandson of the first entrepreneur in the family) is in charge of managing this natural legacy, and who will accompany you throughout the Cualiva Experience.

In the olive groves you will discover that picking olives is not as easy as it seems: you will try to shake, put the bales and collect the soil. The perfect exercise to start the day!

Afterwards, we will go to the local oil mill. Get ready for a Land Rover ride in true ’80s style!

The mill is the oil factory. The farmers bring here the olives that they have picked on the day. Sometimes there is even traffic jam at the entrance! There we will see the entire production process: from how it is weighed, to grinding and its subsequent extraction.

Seeing, hearing and smelling the green oil that we have worked on falls is a sensation that cannot be explained in words. And it goes without saying when it is put in the mouth!

We encourage you to check it out.

When will we be able to enjoy the Cualiva experience?

For the production of our own oil we have only a month and a half so that you can take home the real green gold made by you. From the beginning / mid-October to mid-November you will have the possibility to enjoy this whole process.

If you are one of those who prefer to live the experience, without making your own green oil, you can do it from the end / beginning of December to mid-February. Always approximate dates. It depends on the weather, maturity of the fruit and other factors that the campaign is advanced or delayed.

Obviously, whether the experience takes place depends on the weather. If it rains, there is no choice but to postpone, modify or cancel the reservation. The customer decides.

PLANNING

The time depends to a large extent on the number of people that we are, especially at the time of the olive harvest, but to give you an idea this would be the planning:

WITH OLIVE COLLECTION

We will meet in the church square of Mures, a small town in the Sierra Sur de Jaén region. There we will make a small presentation of what we will do during the morning and we will get going.

Next, we will travel in a mythical Land Rover from the 80s towards the olive groves. These are less than 5km from the town.

There we will teach you the whole procedure of the olive harvest, machinery, bales, rods … and we will get to work!

Welcome to our olive groves. Depending on the objective of kilos that we have, we will take more or less olive trees. Next, we will take the harvest to the mill.

Once in the mill, we will see the entire oil extraction process.

Reception of the olives, grinding and mixing, separation of the liquid part from the solid part, separation of the liquid phases and their classification.

As the process of beating and grinding can take up to two hours, we will take the opportunity to visit another plot of younger olive trees where we will enjoy a small picnic with local products and magnificent views of the landscape and with the Castillo de la Mota de Alcalá la Real background.

Once the batteries are charged, we will return to the mill where we will see the oil already separated and its subsequent packaging.

Now we only have to collect our green oil made by ourselves and enjoy it.

WITHOUT OLIVE COLLECTION

We will meet in the church square of Mures, a small town in the Sierra Sur de Jaén region. There we will make a small presentation of what we will do during the morning and we will get going.

Next, we will travel in a mythical Land Rover from the 80s towards the olive groves. These are less than 5km from the town.

There we will teach you the whole procedure of the olive harvest

Welcome to our olive groves. We will do a simulation of the work of the olive harvest. How bales are placed, way of shaking, machinery and their uses.

Once in the mill, we will see the entire oil extraction process:

Reception of the olives, grinding and mixing, separation of the liquid part from the solid part, separation of the liquid phases, their classification, elaboration and subsequent packaging.

Finally, we will head to another plot of younger olive trees where we will enjoy a small picnic with local products and magnificent views of the landscape and with the Castillo de la Mota de Alcalá la Real in the background.
